I just finished co-leading a yoga and mindfulness retreat in Sayulita, Mexico with 10 gorgeous participants and my brilliant co-leader Rebecca Shisler-Marshall.
Honestly, it took me a few days of processing to be able to put some words around this experience, as it was immensely powerful.
You can look at pictures from a retreat and see the surface story:
A beautiful location, smiling, happy, relaxed people playing and resting in nature.
What images can’t explain to you is the backstory.
The invisible story, as always, is the more compelling one.
Pictures can’t show you the unexpected, powerful awakenings and the feeling that erupts when a heart cracks open wth new clarity and purpose.
Pictures can’t convey the depth of sisterhood that developed and the power of being in a circle of love and support-where we can be vulnerable, real, and talk about those things that really matter.
Pictures can’t truly explain how good it feels to move our body in new ways, to build new strengths-physical and otherwise.
Images can’t explain the primal power of being barefoot for a week, without modern conveniences like electricity or walls, reconnecting with the natural rhythms, singing songs around the fire as people have done for eons, sharing our space with beautiful iguanas and mischievous coatimundis.
The feeling of wonder and awe we felt as bioluminescence danced around our ankles, the roar of the powerful ocean pounding in our ears, a sky bursting with stars above our heads-so close it felt like we could reach out and touch them, and just as we tried one shot across the sky…these things can’t be conveyed in images.
There were many tears, laughs and hugs.
For a few people, this week was about more than they bargained for.
As the earth burns and civilizations come to an end, some women are getting tapped on the shoulder and asked to rise up from the shadows to reclaim long-lost abilities and gifts.
This can be alarming if one is not used to these kinds of invitations.
I am seeing this more and more and may say more about this in another post, as I love to support these women. I am one of these women.
For now, I want to express gratitude for the privilege of holding space in this way, inviting transformation and magic to occur and to all those who say YES to their gifts, and expressing themselves fully.
I’m grateful to everyone who showed up, to the land and the ancestors of the land for allowing us to be there and for supporting us in the co-creation of magic.
May we all embrace our unique gifts and do as the bioluminescence does:
when the world looks dark, remember that we can create our own light from within. 🌟
I am wishing you well and cheering you on.
